CMC Magnetics and Ritek are two of the leading manufacturers of optical media in Taiwain and now they seem to be getting ready to tackle the new optical formats which will appear this year, namely Blu-ray and HD DVD. CMC and Ritek will according to DigiTimes try to collect $200 million with ECB stocks (euro convertible bonds). The money will be used to secure equipment for making Blu-ray and HD DVD media while improving the companies’ finances. Even if this seems to be specific for CMC and Ritek other manufacturers are also getting ready for the new optical formats which hopefully means we will have a smooth introductino of the two blue laser formats.
