Xbox 360 will not get an external Blu-ray player

Rumours were spreading that Microsoft was considering to support Blu-ray with Xbox 360 if the HD DVD format fails. There are several reasons for why this would be a good idea but also several reasons for why it won’t work. Microsoft has now announced that that it has no plans what so ever to support any other format than HD DVD with Xbox 360. In the official pressrelease they state that they are fully dedicated to HD DVD and that has no plans to support any other optical format. In other words, the HD DVD followers can relax as they still have the full support from one of the most powerful sources on the market.
