Intel has had a tough time the last year whilst battling their rival AMD. They haven’t lost that much in sales, but the trend isn’t that good for Intel whilst it’s positive for AMD. The reason is very simple, AMD has offered better processors for almost every occasion. Lack of great performance and high heat dissipation has been the main problems for Intel and now before launching their new microprocessor architecture during 2006, they’ve launched Pentium-D 900-series which tries to fix a whole lot of what was missing on its predecessor Pentium-D 800. At GamePC they’ve tested the new series and compared it against AMD’s Athlon 64 X2, and the result was that they actually got a little positively surprised, but AMD seems to still have the upper hand.
