Dual-core CPU’s are already becoming standard after only a year after their launch on the PC-market. AMD are therefore prepared to take the next step and futher extend the number of cores on their CPU’s to a total of four this time. AMD’s plans on Quad-core manufacturing before 2007 is the goal and now they’ve released info about which socket to use. It looks like it’s going to be Socket-F, which we already have reported about, who is getting the honorable mission of debuting with AMD’s Quad-core CPU’s. Unfortunately it leads to the fact that Socket 939 and probably not even Socket M2 will support the new CPU’s when they show up on the market during the early going of 2007.
