The widescreen format has for long been a big part of the TV market, but with the monitor market things have been slow. For the last six months we’ve seen more and more monitors in various sizes appear using the widescreen format. We say 16:9 but in reality it’s actually usually the 16:10 format for computer monitors. Anywho, they have over at Toms Hardware tested 6 different monitors with widescreen panels ranging from 17″ up to 24″. They investigate everything from color reproduction to update frequency and it seems there is a lot separating the models. It turns our there are some huge differences and according to their tests it seems an old veteran has once again awoken and risen from the ashes, namely Sony.
