NVIDIA’s GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB and its top model of the Quadro series, FX-4500, both comes with 512MB memory. That has to be considered a decent amount and more than enough for the games of today. However, NVIDIA’s more advanced customers, who works with 3D rendering and similar, have some different demands and they would like to see NVIDIA’s workstation card Quadro with 1GB graphic memory. NVIDIA has no intention of letting them down, but right now it seems like it is having some problems. Today’s 110nm graphic circuit (G70) together with 1GB graphic memory would be too much of a burdon to fit on to one PCB. Therefore NVIDIA has announced that its Quadro cards with 1GB memory won’t arrive until April, and then based on the new G71 circuit. The cards will really be something out of the ordinary, which unfortunately will become apparent when you see the price. Each card will namely cost about 8000 USD. Source: The Inq
