Intel Core Duo (Yonah) sports 64bit and VT ?

Small preview imageIntel Core Duo is the first mobile processor by Intel with dual cores and has alreayd been adapted by several manufacturers, among others Apple. Now new information is stating that there may be more to Core Duo than first revealed, Intel hasn’t mentioned anything about support for 64-bit (EMT64) or Virtualization Technology with Core Duo, which has simply made you think that no such things exists. According to Hexus the support may very well be there, but that it is not being used. They have namely compared the specifications with Intel’s coming low voltage circuit Sossaman which will be launched for the Xeon family. Sossaman is basically a Yonah bsed processor, or pretty much the same processor as Core Duo.

Therefore it is very weird that Sossaman will have both EMT64 and VT support when Core Duo has neither. If this is correct you might wonder why Intel won’t let consumers take advantage of the support with its mobile Core Duo processors.
