PortalPlayer is a chip manufacturer supplying Apple with multimedia processors for their MP3-player series iPod. PortalPlayer are to say the least depending on Apple as 95% of their sales are to Apple for their iPod-components. Now as PortalPlayer has announced that they’ve signed a contract with CSR, a developer and manufacturer of WiFi and Bluetooth circuitry, to develop portable mediaplayers with wireless technology there’s undoubtedly some interesting questions that appears. A company that more or less depends on Apple says that they will work with wireless technology for portable mediaplayers. You hardly have to read between the lines to understand what’s going on. PortablePlayer has also told that they expect to launch products with the new wireless technology during the end of the year, maybe a wireless video iPod?
