The history of the LCD panel technologies

0

LCD panels are made with three different technologies, IPS (In Plane Switching), VA (Vertical Alignment) or TN (Twisted Nematic). These all have their pros and cons, but few believed that all three would still be around after five long years. At BeHardware they’ve published a short resume covering the LCD panels’ development since 2001, where you get an overview of the grand eras of the various technologies. 2006 seems to be IPS’ year as NEC has just launched LCD20WGX, which is an 8-bit widescreen panel at 20″ with 6ms responsetime. Interesting reading for those who wants to know more about the LCD technology’s development and future.
