CompactFlash is as the name reveals a flash memory card format that is used quite frequently by digital cameras and other portable units. CompactFlash is available as two different models, Type I and Type II, where the thickness is the difference, Type II is slightly thicker which makes it possible to fit more storage inside the card. It also opens up other possibilities for innovative ideas such as instead of using flash memory using a miniature harddrive. That is precisely what Seagate has done with its 8GB Photo Hard Drive that is a CompactFlash card based on harddrive technology. A lot storage on a very small surface and at Adrian’s Rojakpot they’ve tested the card to see how it performs.
