Blu-ray and HD DVD will appear on the market sometime this year and years after we first heard about the new optical storage formats it is still uncertain what format will win. Blu-ray has for long been considered the strongest of the two, but the last couple of months setbacks has appeared and of course Microsoft’s support of HD DVD. Microsoft is one of the biggest and most influent companies on the IT market and when it decides for a matter you’d better be on the same side.
At CNET they’ve published an article about Blu-ray’s adversities and compares today’s situation with the one Sony experienced with Betamax two decades ago. A very interesting article that brings up most about the competing formats and not only focus on the movie industry.
