AMD launch three new dual-core Opterons

AMD has now launched three new Opterons, all sporting dual cores. AMD Opteron 885 is the flagship, that can be used with octo processor systems bringing a total of 16 physical cores. Opteron 285 is intended for dual processor systems with four physical cores, and can be used with both servers and workstations. These two models is, according to AMD, available today, while Opteron 185 for single systems, with two integrated cores, is expected to arrive in a few weeks. All three models work at 2.6GHz and comes with 2x1MB L2 cache.

The prices of the new Opterons are not for us mortals though, the single system model, 185, will cost ~$1,100, about the same for the 285 model. Opteron 885 on the other hand will cost twice as much, $2,149.
