Catalyst 6.3 and Avivo Video Converter

Catalyst 6.3 are the third video card drivers from ATI this year. Catalyst 6.3 contains a load of bug fixes as usual, but also a nice improvement of the performance with Call of Duty 2 with 5-10% for the top models Radeon X1800 and X1900. Except for the tweaks the most interesting part is the support for Avivo Video Converter. We have earlier reported about this function with ATI’s Radeon X1K family that lets the processor do a lot of the job when converting video, a very demanding task for even the fastest processors on the market. Avivo Video Converter will according to ATI be up to 80% faster than other solutions on the market and supports the H.264 format, used by many portable devices.
