According to unconfirmed information from European retailers AMD is planning to raise the prices of its desktop dual-core processors, Athlon 64 X2. On April 10 AMD will raise the prices a few euro, but Athlon 64 FX will remain the same. Later on May 15 the prices of Sempron will be lowered while AMD will release information about the prices of its Socket AM2 processors, which will not be launched until a few weeks later though, June 6. The higher price for Athlon 64 X2 is maybe an attempt to make the new processors seem cheaper, one out of many possible reasons.
