Dual-core and processors with multiple cores is a concept here to stay. But even if we will see more and more focus on multi-core in the future, both hardware and software, you might wonder if there is anything to gain from dual cores today already. Many applications and e.g. Windows support multiple cores for a better experience, but games have been a real Achilles’ heal, despite big steps forwards lately. At NeoSeeker they’ve published a rather interesting comparison of Intel’s Pentium series with games to see if dual processor cores make a difference. The answer is both yes and no as you require a powerful system to make dual-core a significant power with the NetBurst architecture.
