We reported about the first real Xbox 360 hack a few days ago, a hack that made it possible to play illegal game copies by removing the function that controls the discs’ signature from the firmware. The details was a bit foggy back then as the hackers did not want to break hacker code or promote piracy, while perhaps afraid of retributions from Microsoft. Anyhow, now they have published some new information about the hack and the most interesting is of course the video showing a modified Xbox 360 playing a copied and burned version of the game Project Gotham Racing 3. Even if it is still possible the video is fake it looks like hackers have taken a big step towards mastering Microsoft and its new “secure” game console.
But as TheSpecialist, one the people behind the hack, has earlier stated Xbox 360 is very well protected except from the poor firmware handling. The team behind the FW hack has decided not to publish its hacked firmware version, but it will only be a matter of time before someone will come across it.
