AMD EE processors with extra low power consumption

0

AMD is planning on, just as Intel, launching processors with the suffix EE, being the direct opposite of Intel’s Extreme Edition. Energy Efficient is what AMD is going for and is intended for the processor models it will launch for Socket AM2 with extra low power consumption. During our reports covering Socket AM2 we’ve seen that AMD is planing both “regular” processors and EE models, that comes with a TDP value at either 35W or 65W. The EE models will be available in all three families Sempron, Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2. The concept with models with lower power consumption isn’t new to AMD as it has been shipping Opteron processors with a TDP as low as 30W for single core models for a long time now. At X-bit Labs they’ve coem across information about what EE processors AMD will launch to counter Intel’s power efficient Conroe processors.
