Dell finally made its purchase of gaming PC builder Alienware official last week, something that has caused quite a few discussions. Among others many were wondering about Dell’s stance on Alienware’s use of AMD’s processors and what it is trying to achieve by acquiring Alienware. At CNN they’ve published an interview with Dell’s founder Michael Dell and he shares a lot of interesting information, among others we find out that Alienware is the greatest acquisition in the history of Dell. However this in now way means that Alienware cost Dell a significant sum, and without specifying a figure Michael Dell said that the pricetag was less than what Dell sells for in 24 hours. Alienware is a respected pc builder, but a different kind that we are used to with Dell.
Regarding Alienware’s broad use of AMD’s processors Michael Dell keeps his cool and emphasize that Dell is not Intel-exclusive and point out that Dell and Alienware will work separately and not be affected by Dell’s earlier contracts. Not the last we will hear about this.
