GeForce GTX used to boost AMD Eyefinity performance

That AMD’s multi-screen technology Eyefinity requires some extra push from the graphics card should not come as a surprise to anyone. Even if NVIDIA hasn’t launched any competing technology that allows users to game across multiple monitors it can still AMD users a boost. It may sound a bit odd, but we’re simply dealing with Lucid Hydra’s multi-GPU technology.

So far it’s just MSI and the Big Bang Fuzion motherboard that has Lucid Hydra where you can connect graphics cards from different eras or technologies to improve the graphics performance of the system.

PC Perspective decided to test this with Eyefinity where they witnessed a boost of about 30% by backing up Radeon HD 5770 with GeForce GTX 260+. Perhaps not the most impressive performance scaling considering the individual performance of the cards, but still pretty cool that AMD’s Eyefinity technology can take advantage of NVIDIA graphics cards with noticeable performance gains.

  • Radeon HD 5770 only: 74 FPS
  • Radeon HD 5770 and GeForce GTX 260+: 98 FPS
