Xbox 360 will be the only “next generation” video game console on the market when the Soccer World Cup kicks off in Germany this summer. This is of course something that Microsoft will take advantage of and since both Xbox and Xbox 360 have been named official video game consoles fpr the World Cup it has designed a special version of the Xbox 360. Together with FIFA, Adidas and Electronic Arts it will launch a limited edition known as Xbox 360 Blue Limited Edition: 2006 FIFA World Cup. This package will be lunched on April 27, the same time as EA release its 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany in Japan. That is precisely what the soccer-crazy people in Japan is waiting for and it seems it is in fact the only market where the “new” console will be avilable, a great disappointment, but perhaps mainly to us Europeans.

“The bundle will feature the console, several accessories, and a copy of the Electronic Arts game. The console will also be tricked out with an Adidas Japan Blue faceplate featuring the colors of Japan’s national soccer squad. The bundle will be limited to a shipment of 10,000 units. It will be open priced, meaning that it doesn’t have a MSRP, but some online retailers are selling the package for around $430.”
