R580+ has lately been followed by a number of rumors and to begin with it was said that it would be made with 80nm technology to, among others, be able to reach higher frequencies. Later information said it was only an optimized version of the 90nm technology used with today’s X1900 series. We have also received information that says the circuit will use GDDR4 memory, something that should improve the card’s performance significantly. Now it seems more sources have confirmed this as X-bit Labs reports that ATI’s autumn launches contains a number of new cards to cover the gap until R600 is launched when Microsoft’s decide to launch Windows Vista. They’ve received information that states that R580+ will use GDDR4 memory and would improve the performance compared to today X1900 XTX cards with up to 15%.
