Both ATI and NVIDIA have with their latest video cards introduced new antialiasing technologies to improve the image quality. Both companies attacked the same problem, making antialiasing work with objects that have transparent textures, therefore the name, Transparency AA (Anti-aliasing). They’ve used somewhat different techniques to achieve this effect and have at the same time named their new technologies a bit different. ATI has its Adaptive AA technology while NVIDIA has adapted the name Transparency AA. At Bit-Tech they’ve taken a closer look at the technologies, how they work and what results you may achieve by using the two. In short, it seems ATI has gone for optimal image quality while NVIDIA has been focusing on the performance.
