Fujitsu is really beating the big drum to promote the new optical storage format Blu-ray. It has namely announced it will be the first PC manufacturer to launch PCs sporting Blu-ray. The manufacturer has both a laptop and a stationary PC with Blu-ray coming. The most attractive of the two is the stationary one called DESKPOWER TX95, which will cost about $5000. The high price is partly because of the Blu-ray player, but mainly becuase of the 37″ LCD monitor. With a resolution at 1920x1080px it will most likely offer an experience above the rest. A Radeon X1600 graphics card with HDMI and both analog and digital TV tuners connect the package using a Pentium D 820. The system is expected to arrive in Japan in June.





At the same time Toshiba has announced it will launch the world’s first laptop with support for HD DVD. Qosmio G30/697HS is the tricky name of the unit that house a 17″ LCD display with 1920×1080 resolution to be able to make fair use of the HD movie format. Under the hood we find a 2.0GHz Core Duo processor and a GeForce Go 7600 graphics circuit. The price of the HD DVD laptop will be $3382.
