Samsung will be one of the first to present an actual ultra-mobile PCs in a worldwide launch on May 1. Samsung’s UMPC use a 7″ LCD display with a 800x480px resolution and under the hood you will find a 900MHz ultra-low voltage Celeron M processor to keep the power consumption at a minimum. The unit use Intel’s 915GMS chipset and comes with 512MB 400MHz DDR2-SDRAM and a 40GB 1.8″ harddrive. Other goodies include integrated support for Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, 10/100Mbps Ethernet, USB2.0, Bluetooth 2 and GPS. It measures 22.8 x 14 x 2.7cm while it weighs 779g. The first UMPC units are expected to be relatively expensive and Samsung’s model will cost about £800 ($1,400).
