Dell XPS M1710 is yet another sign for that Dell will not rely on Alienware supplying the market with gaming PCs. XPS M1710 is a laptop with more than enough power while at the same time Dell has worked out a new, “rougher” design. Under the tough exterior lies hardware that should make most enthusiasts and gamers smile. A 17″ LCD display with a 1920x1200px resolution powered by NVIDIA’s new GeForce Go circuits, 7900 GTX or Go 7900 GS, is just the start. The computer is built around Intel’s new Core Duo processors with dual processor cores at 2.16GHz, while you can squeeze in up to 4GB DDR2-667 memory if want. The weight is at least 4Kg (8.8 lbs.) and as expected it is more of a stationary than a portable laptop.
Dell seems to be serious with its new focus on enthusiasts and gamers, because those who wants an XPS M1710 sent home has to pay $2600 for the base model, but when you start looking at the upgrades the price easily hits the outer atmosphere.
