AMD is about to enter one of the most important periods in the histoy of the company. It has had a few good years with the K8 architecture as the eternal underdog and has started to close in on Intel, both market shares and market value. It will in short launch a new platform for its K8 architecture and si at the same time working on what seems to be a really powerful fiend, Core. At AMD Zone they’ve had a chat with Damon Muzny from AMD and the result is an interview with many interesting questions and answers. Among others we find out that AMD’s 65nm manufacturing is going as planned. At the start of 2007 it expects that 50% of the wafers produced by the new Fab36 would be made with a 65nm manufacturing process. We also get to hear some oppinions about Intel’s position on the market and its tactics for promoting the Core architecture so far ahead of the actual launch.
