OCZ GameXStream is the latest addition to OCZ’s arsenal of power supply units and through the launch of its GameXStream series OCZ release its most poweful PSU so far: 700W. GameXStream is available as both 600W and 700W models and are branded SLI Ready, perhaps not Quad SLI though, and even the most demanding systems should be able to get around with these. Except from a sturdy power supply GameXStream use a 120mm fan for efficient and quiet cooling. Under the hood you will only find quality components, the same as with its ealier PowerStream series. It has despite the higher output been able to keep the size at the recommended ATX format, something PowerStream not quite handled. In other words these babies will fit into any case.
It has chosen not to use modular cables, which is of course a disappointment but on the other hand if the performance is anything even remotely similar to the PowerStream series any potential buyers will be more than satisfied. We are looking forward to hearing more about OCZ’s new power supply units, perhaps in a comparison with Mushkin’s new? The PSU is already available from several vendors and the 700W version costs a little less than $200.
