SoundTech Lightsnake is a the least to say unique sound cable and not just because in one end we have a 1/4″ mono plug and in the other a USB contact. This somewhat odd creation is a sound cable used to make it possible to record digitally direct onto your computer without an amplifier or a sound card. Lightsnake is intended for musicians using electronic instruments and wants to record the sound digitally. The only thing you need is to connect the 1/4″ plug to the e.g. electric guitar and the USB contact to the PC, then you can rock on and get a digital recording direct to your computer. Lightsnake is namely a “sound card-on-a-cable”, thus all circuits needed are available in the cable.

“An embedded 16 Bit Analog to Digital Converter with audio signal boost ensures extremely low audio loss and 48 KHz Sampling Rate provides you with high audio quality while recording. The HSDL (Host Side Data Loss) Noise Reduction function prevents any unwanted noise when converting the audio signal to digital format and saving to your computer.”

Without a doubt an exciting solution that seems like a both simple and cheap way for hobby musicians to eternalize their credations. The recommended price is $69.99 and SoundTech Lightsnake will be shipped in May.
