Intel Core ‘Conroe’ available in July

Intel has during its spring analyst meating released some information and plans for its coming Core architecture and the most interesting is the more precise launch dates. According to DV Hardware Intel has announced that the desktop version of Core, Conroe, will be available in July and comes with a performance-per watt three times as high as a Pentium D 960 processor. Which sounds quite ok, even if Pentium D 960 hardly is an efficient processor to compare with. They also reveal that the mobile version, Merom, will be launched in August with a 2.5x as high performance per watt. First up among the Core processors is Woodcrest though for the server market that will appear in June already with a three times as high performance per watt as a Xeon 2.8GHz processor.
