ASUS has now launched two new notebooks using Intel’s Centrino Duo platform, the heart being a Core Duo processor at up to 2.33GHz. The portable models are known as W5F and W7J, where W could be short for the color theme, ASUS has namely used two white nuances with the design. The only one who actually use a white design with its laptops is Apple. Whether there is a connection to the fact that ASUS manufacture a large portion of Apple’s iBooks we’ll leave up to you to decide. The two new models are slim to the max and with a 12.1″ and a 13.3″ widescreen display it has been able to shrink the measurements and the weight. ASUS W5F weighs only 1.6kg while W7J with its somewhat larger display weighs in at 1.9kg.

ASUS supplies the computers with 1GB RAM, 100GB harddrive, integrated 1.3Mpixel web camera, Bluetooth and WiFi support. W5F use the i945GM chipset and rely on the integrated graphics circuit while W7J use the 945PM chipset and a GeForce 7400 graphics circuit. ASUS latest creation indicate that smaller laptops are getting more and more popular, especially as also Acer recently launched a similar model with a 12.1″ display and in fact also a white design.
