FSP was one of the first to launch a VGA power supply and the name of course reflects the purpose of the PSU as it is dedicated for the computer’s graphics card(s). A couple of years ago this would’ve sounded pretty ridiculous, but today’s graphics cards, and the fact that you can use multiple ones in one system, has increased the power consumption of the graphics portion significantly. FSP was quick to respond to this and has thus launched one of the first VGA PSUs with a maximal output at 300W, which is simply fitted into one of the computer’s 5.25″ slots.
At X-bit Labs they’ve tested FSP’s unique power supply and it seems you will get very far with a FSP power supply to power your graphics cards although at a cost of noise and some rather doubtful claims that makes them doubt the future of VGA PSUs. But those who need extremely stable voltages for their graphics cards FSP VGA PSU is an interesting alternative.
