When NVIDIA first sent out information about its SLI Physics technology, which was based on Havok’s Havok FX technology a few weeks ago, ATI replied with that it has just as good support for physics acceleration with its graphics circuits, if not even better. It made no official statement, but now it seems it time for ATI’s competing concept to be revealed at Computex next week. According to HKEPC ATI namely has plans for announcing its multi-GPU physic accelerations technology that will not only work in Crossfire configurations but also with two graphics card with different circuits. ATI has earlier announced that you will be able to buy a new graphics card for your computer and instead of just getting rid of the old one you can use it for physics acceleration.
There are no details regarding what ATI will announce but if it can live up to what it has promised we’re in for a wild ride at Computex. It’s pretty obvious AGEIA has managed to awaken the two giants’, NVIDIA and ATI’s, interest in physics acceleration, which we are of course ever so grateful for.
