OCZ has now jumped on to the new trend with Enhanced Performance Profiles which NVIDIA launched together with memory manufacturer Corsair. We’ve known since earlier that OCZ has been working on its first EPP-capable RAM modules and now it has officially launched its OCZ DDR2 PC2-7200 Platinum series which introduce EPP with OCZ’s assortment. As we’ve earlier reported EPP is about supplying the motherboard with more detailed information about the memory modules settings, everything from latencies to voltage and frequency. Today it’s only NVIDIA’s nForce 590 SLI motherboards that sport the technology but there will definitely be more further up ahead. OCZ’s PC2-7200 modules are specified at 900MHz DDR2 and when these modules are installed on a EPP-capable motherboard they will automatically be set to run at 900MHz with 4-4-3 latencies, completely without any manual settings. The new series will be available as 1GB modules separately and as 2GB kits. We are really looking forward to seeing more of both Corsair’s and OCZ’s EPP modules that seems to be the optimal choice for overclockers and enthusiasts.
