That iPod is the supreme dominator on the American market for mp3 players can hardly be considered news. The fact that most people don’t even say mp3 player but instead calls everything an iPod, no matter if it actually is an Apple iPod or a SanDisk mp3 player, says it all really. SanDisk has had to settle for being second, far behind Apple in the sales, but this is of course not something it wants. That people start up sites such as AnythingButiPod.com to bring people attention to the fact that not all players are in fact called iPods and that there actually are alternatives that are, if not better than at least, just as good, but now also SanDisk has launched the site iDon’t.com where it advertises alternatives to iPod, and of course its own player Sansa e200.
At the site you can find a number of interesting pictures that can also be seen around the major cities in North America:
And there are more at the site. What’s really interesting here though is the fact that it is not trying to outshine the iPod’s technical qualities, if anyone would actually call that an achievement, but tries to show that there is an alternative lifestyle. It’s going to be interesting to see what Apple has to say or will do about this. There are a lot of followers to SanDisk’s campaign, but the question is if it’s even possible to even get close to iPod’s position, but in the end we salute them for trying at least.
