Usually it’s the movie industry people talk about when you want to know the future of the optical formats HD DVD and Blu-ray. Even if Hollywood and the movie studios choice play a very important part in this the PC market has now been granted a much larger portion of the responsibility. Together with the video game console market and the consumer electronics market it’s the PC market where we will see the most HD DVD and Blu-ray player being shipped and if you look at the total volume of players it is actually the PC marklet which is the biggest with 50%. But so far most PC builders have refused to choose side and the question is if this will take a very rapid turn as soon as one of the formats gains some momentum.
