PQI recently announced that it will start shipping its 2.5″ 64GB flash-based harddrive in August 2006 has now commented on the high price of the flash harddrives. The prices are up to 95% because of memory chip costs and are expected to drop dramatically later this year and PQI hopes to be able to cut the price of its 64GB model down to 1000 dollar before the end of the year. A remarkable cut compared to the 2000 dollar that was mentioned before the launch in August. Still it’s just not the limited storage capacity and high price that can be questioned. Also the transfer rates with PQI’s flash harddrive is anything but impressive but we can’t help feeling exciting over the coming development in this area.
