Intel could be the real culprit behind the incompatibility between NVIDIA SLI and the new Conroe platform. Earlier NVIDIA has been blaimed for SLI not working with Intel’s 975/965-based motherboards, but now it seems that it could be Intel that is stopping NVIDIA. Intel namely has an agreement with ATI, which has led to, among other things, that it sports ATI Crossfire with its 975/965 chipsets and because of that and not wanting to offend ATI it doesn’t want SLI to be supported by its chipsets, no officially at least. We at NH have already acquired modified drivers that makes it possible to run SLI with Intel’s chipsets and even if the first versions contained loads of bugs the latter ones have been working quite well. How, if or when Intel will let in NVIDIA officially remains to be seen.
