Corsair has recently presented two new memory modules specified at DDR2-800 speeds in its XMS Pro and XMS Expert series. These are 1GB modules which will be made available through 2GB kits and will be called Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO and TWIN2XP2048-6400C4. Corsair says that the new memory kits have been optimized for AMD’s Socket AM2 platform and Intel’s DDR2 platform. As usual Corsair’s Pro and Expert series offers extra features compared to regular modules. The Pro series has its activity LEDs on the heatspreader, while the Expert series has taken it all one step futher with programmable LEDs which can show both letters and digits.
It seems that Corsair has been focusnig on these unique features, but the specifications are nothing to be ashamed of. DDR2-800 with 4-4-4-12 latencies should be enough for most people. Both memory modules sports the new Enhanced Performance Profiles, which the nForce 590 SLI chipset supports.
“The Corsair XMS product family now offers complete performance-oriented DDR2 solutions ranging from the classic XMS to the PRO and the XPERT in a variety of speeds and densities.”
We haven’t received any information regarding the price of Corsair’s new modules but they should appear in stores soon.
