OCZ PC2-8000 Titanium Alpha VX2 Edition is the latest addition to OCZ’s new Titanium Alpha series, which was debuted just a few days ago. The new memories are somewhat different fom the first though. These are all about the performance and at a specified frequency of 1000MHz with 4-4-4 latencies thaey are simply just impressive. To reach these speeds and latencies OCZ has had to feed the modules some extra voltage. According to the specifications the memories requires 2.3V at these speeds, but since the VX2 modules are optimized for handling these high voltages this shouldn’t be a problem.

“As a member of the Voltage eXtreme family, the PC2-8000 Ti Alpha VX2 is designed to operate at a high voltage in order to increase the speed while maintaining stability that is usually unobtainable when conventional modules are pushed to run at a higher voltage. At DDR2-1000, the Ti Alpha VX2 supports ultra-low timings of 4-4-4 at 2.3 volts without any adverse affects to stability whatsoever. The result is unrivaled DDR2 performance.”

OCZ PC2-8000 Titanium Alpha VX2 Edition will be available as 1GB modules and 2GB kits (2x1GB), when the modules arrive and costing how much is yet to be announced, but we assume these will cost a bit considering the high-end profile. It is pretty obvious that the memory manufacturers are now focusing on the DDR2 market where we see new launches from Corsair, OCZ and the rest almost every day.
