We’ve earlier reported about Panasonic (Matsushita) and its enormous 103″ PlasmaTV. The world’s largest plasma TV got quite some attention during CES last April and the perhaps most astonishing bit was that Panasonic announced that this super-plasma would actually be produced relatively soon. It’s relatively rare that these display models are released this quickly and now Panasonic has announced that it is ready to start selling this beast. The plasma TV measures 2.4m x 1.4m and weighs 215kg, who said flat TVs are light? We’ve earleir heard of a launch in December and this still applies, or at worst the beginning of 2007.
Panasonic is expected to sell about 5000 units a year and it expected that only ~20% of the buyers will use the TV for watching television. The company is going for the gigantic advertising screens and demo products. It has not yet revealed the price of its 103″ plasma TV, but considering that its 65″ model costs about $8,500 in Japan we’re probably talking about an astronomical amount.
