NTFS with Linux is something that has always been a quite doubtful function. Sure, there have been solutions, but the quality of these have been varying and the results of using them not always satisfactiory, especially when writing to the file system. Support for reading NTFS and writing to existing files is available in the kernel, but not the possibility to delete or create new files. Now Slashdot.org reports about The Linux NTFS project which has released a beta version of its user space for NTFS. According to them they outperform any other software available today, even the commercial solutions or emulating Windows’ own NTFS driver through Wine. And according to to others it is working quite well. Program and drivers can be found at the website for those who finally wants to be able to alter and create things on their NTFS-partitioned drives through Linux.
