ZuneLive.com was registered by a man named Jack Spurr on May 24 2006. Since then rumors haven been going around that this domain has something to do with Microsoft’s current work on a multimedia player to fight Apple’s iPod. Many have dismissed this rumor simply because anyone named Jack Spurr could register this domain. But over at ZuneNation.com they’ve received information that more or less confirms that Microsoft is behind the registration and that the name is an indication for that Microsoft is going for a Live service for its media player. They’ve namely done some research on who Jack Spurr is and what earlier registrations he has done. There they found domains such as Microsoft’s Live.com and MicrosoftGadgets.com.

Microsoft’s venture with network services for its Zune player, which seems to be the final name, seems clearer and clearer day by day. At the same time they also report that Microsoft has plans for a music sharing service between Zune owners. The sharing of music will be done short-range through WiFi and could be like a bookmark system for what songs you are considering buying in the future. This information comes from Digital Music News which aso claims that a 30GB version of Zune will be launched in November costing 399 USD, the same as Apple’s 60GB iPod.
