Radeon X1950XTX will most likely be even hotter than ATI’s current flagship X1900XTX and then we’ve not talking about the performance but literally hotter. With the same 90nm manufacturing process and higher frequencies the heat coming from the circuit will be higher than with any other card and this has apparently made ATI reconsider regarding the cooling. Its standard cooling with X1900XTX is hardly the most efficient on the market and the level of noise is anything but acceptable. Therefore rumors have surfaced that ATI has adapted to Arctic Cooling’s design that has had a great breakthrough on the third party market.

Both X1950XTX and X1950 Crossfire is expected to get this cooler which will both be quieter and be more efficient than today’s model. It is still a dual-slot design but anything else would’ve been a huge surprise. What this means to the graphics card manufacturers remains to be seen, but as we’ve reported earlier ATI will from now on let the manufacturers buy cards without cooling. With a new, more efficient coolers there will perhaps be more that sticks to ATI’s own solutions.
