Firefox has despite what some people believe its share of security problems as well and now antivirus company McAfee has discovered a Trojan which specifically targets Mozilla’s browser. It is namely a program that is disguised as a Firefox extension called Numberedlinks. In reality it is a form of spyware and McAfee has named it “FormSpy”. The reason for this name is that the Trojan surveys the information inserted into forms on the Internet. Which in the end means that anything from credit card numbers to passwords are stored and sent to an external server, which we assume most people can imagine the consequences of. The Trojan is spread through phony e-mails from “Wal-Mart” and the easiest protection is simply not to install any extensions you haven’t asked for.
