Mozilla Thunderbird is the mail client that is suppose to complete the browser Firefox. The latter reached 2.0 Alpha 1 status long ago and has now reached a very lat state of the development, we may very well be closing up to a final version soon. Now Thunderbird has also reached the Alpha state of 2.0 and with it comes a number of interesting new features. It has among other things gone for improved security and making the mail client simply more complete. A short list of what’s new can be found below.

Improved New Mail Notification Alerts
New Windows installer based on Nullsoft Scriptable Install System
Find As You Type in the message pane
New combined and improved Add-ons manager for extensions and themes
Updates to the extension system to provide enhanced security and to allow for easier localization of extensions
