Zune will as you perhaps know be Microsoft’s reply to Apple’s iPod family and even if Microsoft claims that Zune will not be a competitor to iPod but will instead introduce new functions and futureproof thinking it will be the same people there fighting for. At Engadget they’ve now posted more information about Microsoft’s portable media player and it is both specifications and launch date. According to good sources Zune will use a 30GB harddrive and be launched in three different colors, black, brown and cotton. What is extra interesting is that the display will be 50% larger than that of Apple’s latest iPod, which diagonally would mean a 3.74″ display.
You can compare this to a Sony PSP with a display at 4.3″ and this means that Microsoft is really going for a video playback support, perhaps even games which we’ve been hearing rumors of.
The launch is suppose to be set to November 14, 2006 and when Zune appears it is suppose to be 13 different official accessories from Microsoft. As we’ve said earlier, Microsoft doesn’t seem to hold anything back with its Zune player.
