Quadro Plex 1000 is what NVIDIA calls the world’s first dedicated Visual Computing System (VCS) and you can summarize it to a system tailor made for optimal graphical performance for advanced use with everything from 3D rendering/Design to advanced graphics simulation. NVIDIA use its multi-GPU technology SLI to connect multiple graphics circuits in the same system and Quadro Plex 1000 can at best use up to four graphics cores in a Quad SLI configuration. Then it’s two Quadro X 4500 X2 graphics cards that is housed inside the mighty chassis, which can be used as a regular, although deep, tower chassis or rack-mounted with a U3 profile.

Quadro Plex 1000 can also be connected to scale up the performance with NVIDIA’s VCS. The unit among other things supports Sony’s 4K SXRD projector, which will result in extremely high details for advanced presentations and such. NVIDIA claims that its Quadro Plex 1000 system will offer about 20 times the performance per square inch compared to previous solutions. The system use a 520W power supply and has a noise level of relaitively low 40dB. The dedicated graphics system will be available in September 2006 and then at prices that starts at about 17 500 USD.
