AMD success on the x86 server market has continued. When we in April reported about AMD’s share it was just over 20% for the processors on the x86 server market and the upgoing trend has continued. According to Mercury Research AMD’s market share has grown to 25.9% for the x86 server market. A significant increase from the 22% it had in April and shows that AMD has continued to grab market shares. If we look at the x86 processor market as a whole Intel has 72.9% while AMD has 21.6% and the third largest supplier of x86 processors is VIA with 5.5%. Whether Intel’s new Core architecture can turn the negative trend for Intel remains to be seen.
