Intel Core is the name of Intel’s new processor architecture that has started to enter the market in several forms. Conroe is the code-name for the Core architecture’s stationary processor models and we have for some time offered benchmarks with Intel’s new architecture. Then it has mainly been under extreme conditions and overclocking of the highest caliber. Now it is time for us to do a deeper analysis of Intel’s new processor architecture, not just with numerous benchmarks, but also a thorough walkthrough of the processor architecture, which is something of the most promising we’ve seen in years. Those who wants to know more about the Core architecture and specifically Intel’s Core 2 Duo family can check out our extensive review of Core here at NH. This will be an article we will be referring to for a long period of time as we continue with our reports of Core. So those who want to get a better grasp of the architecture and how it performs you should read on. “To even further mark the start of a new era, the, to say the least, well known name Pentium has been demoted in favor of the new “Core 2 Duo”. We will today have a closer look at the architecture behind the name Conroe, the different flavors it comes in, performance comparisons with it’s competitors and last, but certainly not least, overclocking.”
