0

Niagara II is the logic successor to Sun’s Niagara, also known as UltraSparc T1. The new processor will like the old one sport 8 cores, but will have support for twice as many threads: 32 has become 64. The new processor will have a 4MB shared L2-cache, four FB-DIMM memory controllers and one FPU per core instead of one in total. The processor will work at 1.4GHz and all in all Sun aims to launch its new processor in the middle of next year and will then replace the current UltraSparc systems.
